late Shri Girdharlal C. Sheth (2.11.1914 to 25.11.1998).
Shri G.C. Sheth was a visionary leader and a great philanthropist. It was his most deeply –held belief that the poor and downtrodden of this society could be lifted from their condition, given the right education and health care. Empathy is the word that immediately comes to our mind as we think of “ Sheth Kaka”. It’s defined as someone else‘s pain in your heart. He felt the pain and suffering of these poor and needy people of Dahod. He was deeply affected by the plight of the pavement dwellers he drove past on his way to work, this is the story of his vision which impacted many lives. It’s a story of love and dedication of a family that, for almost years now has made Dahod a healthier place to live in.
Unhygienic conditions and lack of proper and reasonable medical facilities in Dahod was the priority area which attracted his attention. His grandmother “jee” had a strong influence on him and was mainly responsible for building him a person who would always think of others and of the common good.He had a feeling that the medical facilities should available at minimum rates, affordable by the tribe as well as another class of people.
The first organization that came forward to turn this dream into reality was the “Dahod Urban Bank”, which sanctioned donation of Rs 89lacs for the construction of hospital buildings..
He was sympathetic and responsive to patients and their problems. HFRC trust has touched the lives of thousands of people over the years, It is the story of nurses, of technicians and doctors, of carpenters and electricians, of patients, attendants and residents, it’s about care, compassion and concern, and we continue to grow, thanks to the good wishes of many benefactors. We dedicate ourselves to create the hospital, he always visualized. We strive to carry the torch forward in the same spirit of joy and understanding. The founder has passed on, but their spirit lives on and the next generation of the HFRC family have kept the flame burning than ever.
